A video of a woman selling churros in a subway station getting handcuffed by officers has gone viral.
The video is from Friday afternoon at the Broadway Junction Subway Station and was tweeted and then shared thousands of times.
Police say the woman didn't have a license to sell the food and was told that she would be issued a summons and have the cart taken away.
They say, after refusing to cooperate, she was cuffed and taken to command where she was un-cuffed and released within minutes.
While there's been a flood of outrage online, we talked to another street vendor, who hadn't heard about the arrest, about her experience at the station.
"I've been working here now for about four days to a week,” the vendor said. “The police do not bother us as long as our area is clean and we're not in the way."
In a tweet local, Councilman Rafael Espinal called the arrest unnecessary and says he plans to meet with transit officials.
Police say the woman has been issued ten unlicensed vending summonses in five months at the same station.
