LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Family, friends and survivors gathered for the annual 'Race for the Cure' at Cardinal Stadium on Saturday in Louisville.

It was a sea of pink as crowds came together to bring awareness to breast cancer and help raise funds to fight the illness.

The chilly fall weather didn't stop anyone from showing up and sharing their stories and fight for the cause.

Breast cancer survivor Careka Squire said, "It means so much to me because back in 2009 I was diagnosed with breast cancer as well as two of my aunts. So it's been a journey. It's been a wonderful journey. I'm just so happy to be here. So every time I come here it's a celebration of still being alive."

The majority of the money made from the race stays in the Commonwealth to help fund local services offering breast health education, screenings and treatments.

The race also symbolizes the story of survivors and their battles, as well as those who lost their lives to the disease.
