Elie Tahari showed his Spring/Summer 2020 line at Spring Studios in Tribeca this week, and George Whipple got an idea for what’s trending this coming season from designer Elie Tahari.
“It’s about, when I got to New York, it was the 70’s and downtown SoHo of New York and it was the art scene.”
“What is it about the 70’s that inspired this line?”
“It’s the casualness of the hippie era, they brought in the casual clothes and everything goes, I think that’s what’s happening now in fashion.”
“And what will we see as far as the types of fabrics that you’ll be using in the line this year?”
“Well, a lot of cotton, linen and silk and very textured fabric and a lot of shorts and mini-shorts, maxi and midi, so different lengths and I think that’s what you see know in the shows.”
“What colors are we gonna see out there?”
“A lot of neutrals, a lot of browns, olives, khakis and some brights to brighten it up.”
