A one-year-old child, whom police said was in a car when it was stolen in Brooklyn on Monday evening, has been found.

Police said the child, whose identity was not confirmed as of this writing, was in a white Mitsubishi when it was stolen near Kingston Avenue and Dean Street in Crown Heights around 7 p.m.

Police said the child's mother parked the SUV, left it running, and was in a store for about 30 seconds to buy groceries when an unidentified man entered and drove off with the infant inside.

An Amber Alert was issued, but the car was found parked and running on Park Place near Buffalo Avenue, about 11 blocks away, around 9 p.m. with the infant inside.

The suspect was not present when the vehicle was found. Police said the boy appeared unharmed and will be evaluated at a hospital. No arrests were made in the case as of the evening.

A witness said she saw the suspect park the car on the sidewalk, walk out without a shirt before putting one on, and slowly walk down the street. About an hour later, she said, she came back outside, took a closer look at the car and realized it was the police were searching for, and saw the child sleeping inside.
