NEW YORK - Former Mets and Yankees star Dwight Gooden has reportedly been arrested again for the second time in less than two months.
"Doc" Gooden is being charged with driving while intoxicated.
Authorities tell the New Yor Post he was driving the wrong way on a one-way street Monday in Newark.
He tells the paper he was "going away to get some help to save my life" and says what he did was embarrassing and shameful.
Gooden was also arrested June 7 on suspicion of possession of cocaine and driving under the influence after he was stopped for a traffic violation in Holmdel, N.J.
The former Cy Young winner has struggled with drug and alcohol addiction over the years.
He was suspended from baseball in the mid 90s for cocaine use.
He has also been arrested several times and served jail time in 2006 for drug use.
