Sources tell NY1 a man killed a woman with an axe and seriously hurt another in a Brooklyn public housing apartment, in the presence of a child, and police are looking for him.
It happened around 1:30 a.m. this morning inside an apartment at the Bushwick Houses.
Police say a 21-year-old woman with multiple lacerations got into an Uber on Flushing Avenue.
That's when the driver called 911 and took her to a nearby hospital.
Police interviewed her and later went back to her apartment to find another woman dead.
Sources say the axe-wielding man is the 21-year-old's ex-boyfriend.
A man who lives in the neighborhood says what police found does not surprise him.
"Eleventh Avenue is kind of scary you know. I have family of my own. I have kids. This neighborhood right here. It’s a bad neighborhood, but I'm used to it. You have to live day by day," said one building resident.
The 21-year-old woman is listed in critical condition.
Police also found a 4-year-old girl inside the apartment that was unharmed.
