NEW YORK - Tuesday marks 26 years since the first terror attack on the World Trade Center.
On February 26th, 1993, a 1,200 truck bomb exploded in a parking garage beneath the Twin Towers.
Six people were killed and more than 1000 others were injured.
A service for the victims was held today at the September 11th Memorial Plaza.
The ceremony included a reading of the victims' names and a moment of silence at exactly 12:18 pm when the bomb exploded.
"At the 9/11 Memorial and Museum, it is both our duty and privilege to preserve the history of this tragic event, pay tribute to those individuals whose names are etched in bronze on the panels besides us, stand in solidarity and shared grief with their families and their friends, recognize the endurance of those who survived,” said Alice Greenwald, President of the National 9/11 Memorial and Museum.
A memorial fountain dedicated to the victims was destroyed when the Twin Towers came crashing down eight years later.
Now, their names are inscribed on one of the memorial pools, alongside the names of the nearly 3,000 people who died on 9/11.
