NEW YORK - Emergency crews responded to a partial building collapse in Lower Manhattan early Friday morning that forced the evacuation of some nearby buildings.
Three floors of an unoccupied building at 23 Park Place collapsed around 3 a.m.
No one was hurt, but people in some surrounding buildings were forced out.
The city Department of Buildings is investigating the building's stability and looking into what caused the collapse.
Meanwhile, the Red Cross is providing financial aid to three displaced families and helped one with emergency housing at a hotel.
Drivers are urged to avoid Park Place between Church Street and Broadway which has been closed off to traffic.
