QUEENS, N.Y. - Officials are investigating the cause of a fire in Queens that burned through a row of stores early Thursday and injuried 12 people, including seven firefighters.
The FDNY says the five-alarm fire broke out just around 2 a.m. on the roof of the Sidetracks restaurant, located on Queens Boulevard between 45th and 46th streets in Sunnyside.
The FDNY says the fire spread quickly between the roof and ceilings of the attached buildings.
One of the buildings partially collapsed, creating a backdraft that fueled more flames.
About six or seven local business were destroyed in the fire.
A total of 12 people at the scene suffered non life-threatening injuries.
