NYPD officers are scouring Crotona Park in the Bronx after finding two bags of human remains.
About two dozen officers have been walking shoulder to shoulder and sifting through the park, looking for anything that could provide a clue as to what happened.
A knife was apparently found at the scene today, but it's still too early to tell if it's related to this case.
Officials say a Parks department employee found the bags yesterday near the park's entrance.
Police have yet to identify them, but some residents tell NY1 it's possible they belong to a woman.
Some folks in the park who were trying to enjoy the day say it certainly put a damper on their mood.
"Very scary. It's scary. Especially with all these little kids out here running around. It's a scary sight,” a Bronx resident said.
“It bothers me because I have a lot of family and they mostly all is females so the first thing I thought about was my girls. So, it's really, really sad," another added.
The medical examiner is looking to determine the exact cause of death.
No arrests have been made.
