Puppets of all materials and sizes are taking over the Lower East Side for the "International Puppet Fringe Festival."
The four-day event marks the festival's debut in the city which brings together performers and enthusiasts from around the world.
A number of shows, cabarets, movies and symposiums will be held over the four days.
Part of the draw of the festival is the international element.
"We get to showcase how puppet art is done in each different country. Each country has their own unique style; it's the same with any artist, right? An Italian artist might make a different landscape with something that's completely different than a Chinese artist might do. The technique is different and it's the same with puppetry. And we get to showcase that," Teatro SEA's Associate marketing director Nicole Morales explained.
The inaugural "Puppet Fringe Festival" will run through Sunday at The Clemente cultural center.
