A historic Brooklyn theater is getting a makeover.
The Paramount Theater in Downtown Brooklyn hosted performers like Elvis Presley and Frank Sinatra, as well as movies, from 1928 to 1962.
Long Island University then converted it to a gym and offices.
Now, the building has been leased to BSE Global, which runs Barclays Center.
The company is investing $50 million to turn the Paramount back into an event venue.
Renovation plans include new seating and a new entrance, along with box offices both inside and outside the theater.
"We're excited to bring the historical theater back to its historical glory with some modern touches and bring today's most contemporary pop and rock and R&B acts to this venue," said Keith Sheldon, executive vice president of prgramming at BSE Global.
Construction is expected to take a year. A grand opening is scheduled by next fall.
