One person was hurt Thursday afternoon after a transformer fire caused two manhole explosions in Lower Manhattan.
Fire officials say it happened around 4:15 p.m. on Nassau Street between Maiden Lane and Liberty Street.
Several buildings in the area had to be evacuated over concerns of high levels of carbon monoxide.
"Units arrived. They found that it was a transformer vault that exploded outside 45 Nassau Street. Units quickly made their way into the building, checked the basement, made sure there was no extension into the building. There was no extension into the building," said Deputy Chief Joe Schiralli of the FDNY.
Officials say these types of things happen when there are drastic temperature changes.
One patient was taken to a nearby hosptial be treated for a minor injury.
