Some small business owners say they're being hit with a ticket blitz.

Some shop owners in Cypress Hills say they've recieved heavy fines for awning and sign issues that were never a problem before.

It's all happening along the Fulton Street Corridor near Liberty Avenue.

Business owners say lately the fines have been becoming more frequent, and they want the city to make a change.

"Can you imagine a $5,000 dollar ticket when your barely making your rent," said Regina Trotman. 

The Department of Buildings says the agency is obligated to inspect signs. If the inspector goes and sees something illegal they have to issue a summons.
