The suspect in last Wednesday's fatal school stabbing in the Bronx did not appear in court Tuesday.

Abel Cedeno, 18, was scheduled to appear Tuesday morning, but his lawyer told the judge he would not attend.

Police said Cedeno stabbed 15-year-old Matthew McCree and 16-year-old Ariane Laboy at P.S. 67 in East Tremont, killing McCree and critically injuring LaBoy.

McCree's family vowed to appear in court every day until Cedeno faces a judge.

"He didn't show today, but eventually he has to show, so it doesn't matter," said Louna Dennis, McCree's mother. "I have to see him eventually, and I'm going to be at every court appearance."

"The mayor has had a press conference, trying to tell the public, 'Everything's OK,'" Sanford Rubenstein, Dennis's attorney, said at a press conference with her. "Well, everything is not OK, and the fact I have a mother standing with me, right here, who lost her son to violence in the schools, demonstrates that."

Some people have said that McCree bullied Cedeno. The teen's mother has denied those claims.
