The city's Animal Care Centers went “big” this weekend so that residents could go home with a new family member.
Animal Care Centers of New York City brought their mobile adoption unit to the Rockaways on Saturday in the hopes of matching up two large dogs, 4 cats and 6 kittens with potential owners.
ACC was also running its “Go Big or Go Home” promotion, which waives the adoption fees for dogs 40 pounds or larger. New pet parents do still have to pay a city dog license.
The unit set up at the corner of Rockaway Beach Boulevard and Beach 92nd Street bringing in a number animals lovers.
“A lot of times it feels like you're completing a family. If that doesn't sound too corny and that's always nice," said Caleb Joslin, the adoption outreach coordinator for Animal Care Centers of NYC.
One kitten, named Otto, did meet his new fur-ever family during the event.
"I just kind of gravitated towards him. He's very handsome and he looked like he could use some companionship. So, we'll make a cool team," said Sacoyia James, who adopted Otto.
