Hundreds of city housing residents welcome kitchen upgrades.

The New York City Housing Authority installed new stoves Tuesday at the West Brighton Houses.

Assemblyman Matt Titone secured $2 million in capital funds to make the project happen.

NYCHA is installing the new stoves in 375 apartments throughout the housing complex.

"I believe it's gonna help a lot of folks because there was a lot of others that had worse problems than me and by these new stoves it should help them better cook," said NYCHA resident Jerome White.

"Most of the stoves and the equipment in NYCHA facilities, particularly this one, well over 30 years old. So, to have brand new equipment that works that functions properly - it's a game changer for many of the residents," said Assemblyman Titone.

Titone also set money aside for security enhancements at the West Brighton, Cassidy-Lafayette and Richmond Terrace Houses.
