UNCW professor passes away after con­tracting menin­gitis

WILMINGTON -- A UNC-Wilmington professor has died unexpectedly.

Hannah Frank, 33, passed away Sunday after contracting a form of meningitis.

The university says the strain of meningitis is considered non-contagious, and that there is no public health concern at this time.

Frank had worked as an instructor with the UNC-Wilmington film studies program since 2016.

The film studies department plans to hold a memorial for Frank later this fall.
