A child was in serious condition Saturday after a fire truck, which was responding to a blaze in Queens, was involved in a chain-reaction crash, according to officials.
The fire truck was responding to a fire on Kissena Boulevard near Cherry Ave. in Flushing, which was under control by 10:38 a.m.
Police said it was going through an intersection on Kissena Boulevard near Booth Memorial Ave. with its sirens and lights on, but then crashed into a Lexus, which then collided with a Mercedes.
Seven people overall were taken to two local hospitals, police said. Five of them suffered minor injuries, and one person is in serious but stable condition.
Three people, including a firefighter, suffered minor injuries in the fire, which was on the tenth floor of a 25-story building, according to fire officials. Firefighters had responded to that fire at 9:58 a.m.
