A hit-and-run in Queens sends a man to the hospital in critical condition.
It happened at 36th Avenue and 12th Street early this morning in Astoria.
Police say a man driving a 4-door Mercedes struck the 59-year-old biker there.
The driver then left his car and took off on foot.
One person who lives around the corner describes what she saw.
"I went upstairs I threw up," the witness said. "I just felt so bad for this guy. He had a prosthetic leg. My daughter thought his leg got chopped off but it was a prosthetic leg that he had on that he lost in the impact somehow. I think that bike is still down there, it's pretty banged up."
A passenger inside the car was taken in for questioning.
No arrests have been made.
