Convicts who were young when they committed their crimes could have an easier time getting out of State prisons.

Per a court order, the New York State parole board will now factor in the age of a prisoner at the time of their offense when considering possible release.

No juvenile offender has ever been sentenced to life without parole in New York, but civil liberties groups have argued that denying parole to offenders with long sentences can amount to the same thing.
