Two people are in critical condition after an SUV jumped a curb on the Upper East Side and hit multiple people, officials said Thursday.
Officials said it happened around 4:45 p.m. near Madison Avenue and East 64th Street.
One other person suffered minor injuries, according to fire officials.
All three people who were injured were taken to Weill Cornell Medical Center.
Two witnesses recall the chain of events to NY1.
"Basically, the car sped past the light and he got to the middle of 64th and lost control," an officer on the scene said. "He jumped the curb, and he hit the lady as she was walking to cross to 65th.
"She had a bleeding head and she's very badly injured," one witness said about one of the women hurt.
NY1: And there was another lady lying on the ground?
Witness: Yeah.
NY1: And she too was badly hurt?
Witness: Yeah, exactly.
The NYPD's 19th Precinct had advised drivers to avoid the area around 5 p.m., but the street was reopened later in the evening.
There is no word yet on what caused the crash.
