If you're looking to keep cool but also stay active in this hot weather, kayaking is back and in a new location in Tottenville, plus, you don't have to pay a dime.
Staten Islanders participated in a free event organized by Kayak Staten Island on Sunday.
The non-profit provided the boats, life-jackets and staff.
Volunteers were on hand to help launch and maintain the boats, while keeping tabs on the kayakers in and out of the water.
"Give them the experience of kayaking which we all enjoy and would like to share with others," Robert Carrano, a volunteer, said.
"I think this a great event for everyone from Staten Island," visiting paticipant Phillip Benavente said. "And for folks like us who come to visit folks who live in Staten Island."
"I'm just ready to get wet and have fun," Roman Vitolo, one of the younger kayakers said.
The organization plans on having more free events this summer. For a schedule visit KayakStatenIsland.org.
