A mural in Queens intended to honor local rapper Prodigy is once again a blank canvas after becoming the target of vandals twice in just a few days.

The wall along 13th Street in Long Island City was covered entirely in black paint, reportedly so the artists can come up with a different concept for the mural.

This comes after the work was defaced by white paint sometime between Friday and Saturday.

After the artists had worked to clean up the mural, vandals sprayed it again, this time with red paint.

Residents NY1 spoke with are angry.

"It's just messed up that you got people out here that's just, you know, you show your love to the hood, but it's like, the hood ain't going to love you back," one resident said.

"The amount of hate being showed toward this guy being vandalized is terrible," said another.

Prodigy, whose real name was Albert Johnson, was half of the rap duo Mobb Deep.

He died last month at the age of 42 from complications related to sickle cell anemia.

The mural was supposed to be the centerpiece of a vigil scheduled for later this month.
