Loved ones said a final goodbye Saturday to the baby girl who died from injuries she sustained from her father allegedly beating her into a coma on Father's Day in Coney Island.
The funeral service for Nylah Lewis took place at the DeRiso Funeral Home in Sunset Park, Brooklyn.
Police said the 16-month-old was beaten by her father, Shaquan Taylor. She was taken to a local hospital with head trauma and bruises, and died five days later.
Her family told NY1 that they will remember Nylah for her bubbly personality.
"She was a happy baby. She used to smile, laugh, she loved to eat," said Nylah's great-grandmother, Janice Munford. "She was a loving baby."
Taylor is charged with assault and endangering the welfare of a child, but charges are expected to be upgraded.
He has a criminal record that includes five prior arrests.
He is due back in court July 17.
