Family, friends and colleagues came together Monday to remember longtime newsman Gabe Pressman.

Funeral services took place for the legendary journalist at the Riverside Memorial Chapel on the Upper West Side.

Pressman passed away Friday at the age of 93.

He got his start on WNBC in 1956 and spent more than six decades on air reporting many moments in history, including President John F. Kennedy's assassination.

He also interviewed famous figures like Marilyn Monroe and Fidel Castro.

Those NY1 spoke with say they'll remember Pressman for his impact on the news business.

"Gabe was at everything. He never missed a story," said veteran journalist Clyde Haberman. "And he was, he was an important proponent of First Amendment rights against some who would curtail it."

"He was dogged. I mean, he never gave up. He got onto an issue. He was a bulldog," said former Police Commissioner Ray Kelly. "And that's what I think will come to people's minds when they think about Gabe Pressman."

A public memorial service will be held Tuesday at 30 Rockefeller Plaza.
