ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Charter Communications and the City of Rochester have teamed up to launch Spectrum Internet Assist, a high-speed broadband service aimed for low-income families and seniors to help provide better learning opportunities.

Charter states this new service offers eligible customers speeds three times faster than other providers.

"We believe that we need to give New Yorkers the tools they need to have a more successful life and the internet can be a big part of that and we also know that affordability is important here," said Charlie Williams, Charter Communications.

Current customers who meet the criteria can enroll. The monthly cost is $14.99.

Spectrum is a company of Charter Communications, which is also the parent company of Spectrum News.
