BROCKPORT, N.Y. -- A firefighter was injured Wednesday morning while battling a fire at an apartment building in Brockport.
Firefighters say it happened shortly after 3:30 a.m. at an apartment building on Chappell Street. They say it was a kitchen fire that started in of the apartments, then spread.
"Apparently they were cooking french fries with oil and n body was watching it and it got away from them," Brockport Fire Chief Mike Ladue said. "Always stay in the kitchen when you're cooking."
The injured fire fighter suffered only minor injuries
Two apartments suffered major damage, and seven people in all have been displaced. The Red Cross is assisting those people.
