Council Members from all over the city play Stickball to celebrate Bronx Week.
Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. hosted the contest Friday on the Grand Concourse.
The event was part of the annual "Bronx Week Health Day," which celebrates physical wellness and activity.
Diaz says stickball has deep roots in the borough.
"Well we continue to celebrate Bronx Week, we celebrate everything good about our borough," Diaz said. "We celebrate all the new development, we celebrate our the culture, we celebrate our tradition, and part of that is stickball. We've invited elected officials from all over the city and we're havnig a who can hit the ball the longest right here on the Grand Concourse."
Tonight there's the Bronx Ball — and tomorrow the Bronx Week parade, a food and arts festival, and a concert.
