NEW YORK - Investigating it as a case of arson, police on Wednesday announced the arrest of a city teen in connection with a massive fire this past weekend at an historic Manhattan synagogue.

Police say the 14-year-old is being charged as a juvenile.

Investigators say they have obtained surveillance video of the scene.

"There were some other children with the 14-year-old. They are considered witnesses right now. Doesn’t appear to be a bias-related at this time," said Police Commissioner James O'Neill.

Flames completely gutted the Beth Hamedrash Hagadol synagogue on Norfolk Street Sunday.

The building was vacant at the time of the fire and no one was hurt.
