HOPEWELL, N.Y. -- A deputy at the Ontario County Jail was seriously injured in a crash on County Road 46 in the town of Hopewell.
Joshua Shaver, 35, of Canandaigua was leaving his shift at the jail and driving his personal vehicle when, around 3:30 p.m. Friday, his car was sideswiped.
That's according to deputies, who said Shaver was flown by helicopter to a Rochester hospital for internal, head and leg injuries.
The other driver, Rebecca Laursen-Castner, 41, of Penn Yan was able to exit her vehicle and was also then checked out at the hospital.
No tickets were immediately issued.
