Business on Valentine's Day keeps getting better and better for one Staten Island flower shop.  NY1's Thabie Sibanda shows us how it’s the work behind the scenes that helps put a smile on many faces.

It doesn’t matter how old you are. There's something special about getting flowers on Valentine's Day.

There's a lot that goes into making Valentine's Day a special day for that special someone in your life. It's work the folks here at Clark's House of Flower's know all too well. They've been in business for 94 years.

"The day starts for my husband at 2 in the morning. He got here at 3 because there are so many orders that we have to tag for delivery," said owner Cathy Clark.

The store averages about 60 orders on a normal day. But on Valentine’s Day, more than 700 arrangements went out for delivery. That meant hiring extra designers and doubling the staff.

"They're family here. Like everybody working together. We're all work together. We have each other's backs,” said employee Rachel Lavasseur.

"So busy that we can hardly keep up with the demand but we do," said Clark.

For 20 years driver Jeff D'Amico has helped deliver smiles to people's faces.

"I enjoy the experience. It's fun to see people's expressions when they get their flowers. They're happy and I make them happy and it's always good when they tip me," said Damico.

Like Robin Cavagnaro whose husband surprised her with flowers at work for the first time.

"This is beautiful. We're married 40 years so it will be a special year I guess," said Cavagnaro

"Flowers convey a certain feeling and when you open the door and don't expect anything and all of a sudden there's a beautiful bouquet of flowers. People's faces light up," said Clark.

And that makes all of the work they put into the day well worth it.
