Route 218 Closed for Remainder of Winter

Route 218 near the U.S. Military Academy will be closed for the rest of the winter.

Department of Transportation officials say a portion of the Orange County highway from the Cornwall town line to West Point Military Academy will remain shut down until the end of March. This comes after the road was closed several times because of boulders and ice falling onto the road.

DOT officials say the road could reopen sooner if the weather improves.
