AFTON, N.Y. -- A Chenango County man has been charged with burglary after an incident in the Town of Afton Monday morning.

State police were called to the area of Algerine Street around 11 a.m. when they found a man who was shot in the upper leg.

He was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

After investigating, troopers arrested 34-year-old James Fletcher, of Greene, and charged him with second-degree burglary.

He was arraigned in Town of Afton court and sent to the Chenango County jail.

Police have not yet said who fired the shot, or identified that victim.

The investigation is ongoing.
