A former city prosecutor is running for Brooklyn District Attorney.
Patricia Gatling formally announced her candidacy on Sunday.
She will run as a Democrat in the race to replace Ken Thompson, who died in October.
Gatling once served as First Assistant District Attorney in the borough, and is a former city Human Rights Commissioner.
She most recently worked for Governor Cuomo as Deputy Secretary for Human Rights.
Gatling is the first candidate to enter the race.
The Democratic primary will be held in September.
