RALEIGH - Cabs are here, and this one is bringing Christmas cheer!

Taxi Taxi driver Dwight Robinett is decking the halls and his cab with Christmas lights this holiday season, hoping to spread joy to all the girls and boys. "Merry Christmas, Merry Christmas!" Robinett exclaims from his window. Robinett, 66, is a retired member of the North Carolina Symphony and started driving for the taxi company 3 years ago. This is only the second year Robinett has decorated his vehicle but this year, he's doubled the lights with more than 9,000 glowing on the body of the car. Robinett says it took him 21 hours to decorate the whole cab, using gaffers tape and 91 boxes of 100 light sets, and it cost him about $1,000. Robinett says, "Christmas is a great season and hopefully this helps people get into the Christmas mood."

Some lucky kids, going to a Christmas dinner with their grandparents, got to ride in the lighted cab. Elle Giordano says, "I've never seen a car like this, I'm glad I got to go in it." Grant Fisher exclaims, "very fun!" Cupples Vann tells us, "The driver knows Santa."

Robinett didn't expect all the attention he's been getting as he drives the cab around but he hopes it cheers people up. He says, "I love the smiles and the... I get people tell me they've had a real, a really bad day, a horrible day and they see my cab. Makes them smile. Makes them feel better. Makes it all worth while I think."

He plans to operate the taxi in full lights until the 12th day of Christmas, January 5, 2017.
