Influential political pollster and consultant Louis Harris has died.

He was NY1’s first pollster back in 1993, and forecasted the elections of political candidates for decades before that.

Starting in the 1950s, Harris helped pioneer a new way to analyze public reaction. He was among the first to provide polling services directly to candidates and officeholders.

The Connecticut-native was also credited with persuading then-Senator John F. Kennedy to run for president.

Louis Harris was 95-years-old.
