AUSTIN, Texas -- Former Texas head football coach Charlie Strong has a new gig.
Sunday, the University of South Florida officially announced Strong will head up their football program.
The Longhorns fired Strong Nov. 26 after a 5-7 season.
Strong replaces Willie Taggart at USF; Taggart was recently named head coach at Oregon.

“I would like to thank President Genshaft and [Athletic Director] Mark Harlan for their confidence and belief in me,” Strong said in a statement. “I feel blessed to have the opportunity to work with the young men in the USF football program and build on the strong foundation already in place.”
Strong left UT with two years remaining on his contract, which would have entitled him to a $5 million per year payout; however the Texas Tribune reports that amount will be halved with his move to USF.
