Police have captured dozens of alleged gang members as part of a major gun and drug bust in Brooklyn.
The NYPD said Friday that officers made 35 arrests and recovered 10 firearms, three pounds of marijuana, a kilo of cocaine, and an undetermined amount of heroin.
Police said it was critical to take down the gang takedown before this weekend's J'ouvert festivities.
"There's nothing directly that links them to last year's violence, but their proximity to the location and the quantity of firearms that were recovered in one location at one time, right before J'ouvert, is indicative of them being looking to be involved this year," said Commanding Officer Joseph Matzinger of the NYPD.
The arrests stemmed from a four-month investigation into several shootings in Crown Heights.
