Some New Yorkers are headed south to help residents of flood-ravaged parts of Louisiana.
Six FDNY members are joining more than a thousand Red Cross members to distribute food, water and relief supplies like cleaning kits and insect repellant.
Officials say tens of thousands of people are dealing with the aftermath of massive flooding.
The Red Cross declared this month's flooding the worst U.S. national disaster since Hurricane Sandy.
The agency says so far, it has sent more than 30 New York residents to help.
Anyone who wants to donate to the relief effort, can do so by visiting the Red Cross web site or calling 1-800-RED-CROSS.
