With summer in full swing, the YMCA wants to make sure that New Yorkers looking to take a dip are safe.

The Y has launched a digital campaign highlighting the importance of swim safety.

It's encouraging donations to support swim lessons for children across the five boroughs.

The director of the program says swimming is a critical skill for people of all ages.

"It's the second leading cause of death for children under the age of 14 years old, so it's extremely important for families not only children, but adults to learn how to swim," said Bronx YMCA Aquatics Director Nadia Arroyo. "Here at the Bronx YMCA we start at six months old, all the way to 99 years old it really doesn't matter as you feel the need you want to learn, we're here for you."
