SKANEATELES, N.Y. -- An eight-year-old girl is being treated for serious head and arm injuries and her father is in stable condition following a boating incident on Skaneateles Lake.
It happened shortly before 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday night near the State Boat Launch located off West Lake Road.
The Onondaga County Sheriff's Office said a 17-foot Bayliner boat with four people on board was pulling the two in a tube when they were hit by the boat.
"We're still in the early stages but it appears that the boat had made a turn and just didn't compensate for the distance between the inner tube and the boat itself and collided,” said Jon Seeber, Onondaga County Sheriff's PIO.
Both the child and her father were taken to Upstate University Hospital.
The incident remains under investigation.
Anyone who may have witnessed it happen is asked to call 315-435-3081.
