STATEWIDE — This year's Fortune 500 list is out, and North Carolina has lost some space on the list.
North Carolina now has 12 Fortune 500 companies instead of 14.
Cary-based Pantry, Inc. and Matthews-based Family Dollar fell off the list after a merger. But the companies that are left are doing well.
The average North Carolina company rose about 21 spots over last year.
They were led by Burlington-based LabCorp, which rose 115 spots.
North Carolina companies on the list include:
