Jamaica kids enjoyed a day of sun and educational fun Saturday thanks to a new event in their neighborhood.
The Jamaica Center for Arts and Learning hosted its first annual International Children's Festival at the Jamaica Performing Arts Center.
Families were invited to take part in a miniature golf course designed by local artists, along with other activities such as face painting and a musical instrument workshop.
Organizers said while it was the first year that the event took place, they hope to expand it into an annual tradition.
"We want people in this community to know that we are here for them, so we came up with this idea to create some event that families can come together and have fun." said Cathy Hung of the Jamaica Center for Arts and Learning.
"You want to get the kids and the family involved," said parent volunteer Winford Cropper. "The more they're involved in the community, the more the community flourishes."
