More than a year after closing its Midtown location, the International Center of Photography now calls the Lower East Side home.
Thursday marked the official opening for the center at 250 Bowery.
The inaugural exhibit gives photography fans a snapshot of the medium from surveillance shots to the selfie culture.
"We’ve been dark for a year and a half so there’s a lot of pent-up excitement. We are welcoming the community, it is free for today and then starting tomorrow, it’s paid admission but we are welcoming everyone to come see our new space," said Mark Lubell, the executive director of the center.
The museum is open Tuesday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. with extended hours on Thursday.
