ANTELOPE VALLEY -- "As I look back at it, 51 years ago flew just like that," said Bishop Henry Hearns of the Living Stone Cathedral of Worship.

51-Years of Leadership and Service to the Antelope Valley.

Bishop Henry Hearns has done quite a bit since his arrival here in the High Desert back in 1965.

From his days sitting on the Lancaster City Council as Mayor and Vice Mayor, to Henry Hearns the author of his recently released book.

Bishop Hearns said his biggest accomplishment, taking this small church built in the 50's, to this big church that sits in the town of Sun Village.

That, and his leadership that's spanned over five-decades.

Hearns added, "I'm absolutely happy for the opportunity to have served as Pastor. I don't look at it as an honor to me. I just feel fortunate that God gave me an opportunity to serve."

Bishop Hearns said he's not going away anytime soon. In fact, he said he plan to continue to be highly involved in the community.  He also said he credits his children and his wife for his success over the years here at the Church.

"Nervous, excitement, also I'm content to know that my Bishop is here with me and that makes a lot of difference," said Rodney Rivers, Pastor-elect.

Pastor-Elect Rodney Rivers will succeed Bishop Hearns as the new leader of their church.

Rivers said he hopes to continue Hearn's vision, a vision that help grow their church over many decades.

Rivers added, "The visions are much the same, both derived from the bible and it’s all about loving the people, loving everyone. It’s about extending that love, and to help convey the love of God that reaches out to everyone, and I think that's attractive."

Hearns continued, "I don't see it as retirement. I see it as retirement for change."
