Goat's Gluttony: Prospect Park to Employ Goats to Eat Unwanted Greenery

You have "goat" to be "kidding" me.

The Prospect Park Alliance intends to employ goats to eat invasive weeds and plants to beautify the landscape.

Herds of goats are expected to roam the park to do their hungry work, creating more natural bird habitats and stabilizing the ecology.

In the past, big storms like Hurricane Sandy have cleared the way for invasive plants to thrive and harm the park's natural ecosystem, according to the Prospect Park Alliance.

With four stomachs, goats can digest some of the toughest plants, including poison ivy.

Once the animals clear the way of the unwanted greenery, the Prospect Park Alliance plans to plant trees and native plants next spring.
