The Hip Hop Hall of Fame Museum is preparing a special tribute to a legendary Brooklyn rapper.
A local artist has created a six-foot sculpture in honor of the late hip-hop icon Notorious B.I.G.
The Biggie Memorial is in its final design stages and curators hope to place at Putnam Triangle Plaza in Clinton Hill, right near the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood where the rapper grew up.
"I want people to feel the presence that's why it's that size," said sculptor Tanda Francis. "It's a big piece to draw you in and the eyes hopefully does that for the viewer."
"Biggie represents the pride of Brooklyn," said Dennis Mathis, of the Christopher Wallace Foundation. "He's our own. So I think we do murals — that's cool — but one day they're gonna paint over those depending on what the landlord of the building is but if you put a sculpture, then that's permanent and it's not just to memorialize him but economically what it does to the area."
When the sculpture is complete, it will need to be approved by the community board and the City Council.
Notorious B.I.G was born Christopher Wallace. He was shot and killed in Los Angeles in 1997, when he was just 24 years old.
No one was ever convicted in connection with his death.
