Sources tell NY1 that the FBI is investigating some of the top brass at the NYPD and the Department of Correction for allegedly taking bribes.
The New York Post reports that the investigation began with an unrelated deal involving two businessmen that went bad, which prompted a wiretap by the feds.
At least 20 police officers are being questioned.
Sources tell NY1 that the investigation includes correction union president Norman Seabrook and Philip Banks, who was chief of department for the NYPD at the time.
Police Commissioner William Bratton addressed the investigation Tuesday.
"On these investigations, we're not able to comment on them, and that's in agreement with the Bureau," Bratton said.
Published reports say the bribes include trips to the Caribbean and Israel.
