KERRVILLE -- One HEB is now a historical landmark.

The state's first HEB started in a Kerrville home in 1905.

It grew to be a huge success.

The city celebrated the honor of being home to the original HEB Tuesday with an unveiling of a plaque.

Kerrville residents are excited about what having a new landmark could mean for the city, economically.

"Those markers bring tourism. Tourism brings dollars. Dollars they spend in our hotels, and our motels, and our restaurants, and our retail outlets, and our grocery stores," said Mayor Jack Pratt.

The store went through a 5-year process to get recognition for over 100 years of commitment to the community.
